Palm Treo 800W Get its Release Date at Sprint

We look forward to your comments leaks in the release date for the new
mobile phones, and because we do not want to disappoint, we have heard
reports of the Treo brand new item in its Treo range will be on July 13
Sprint.

Sprint is definitely working hard to meet its
reputation and bring some of the lost customers back into its fold. So
far this summer they are doing very well, first with the launch of
Samsung Instinct June 20 and now the Treo 800W.

Always the
source of the leak, Howard Forum was the first to the inventory sheet
below. This suggests that the 13th July is the big day, 22 not, as
originally expected. Now, this is for non-user; Palme companies may be
buying 800W, July 9.

Not
only is Sprint making a comeback worthy and always a strong contender
in the wireless market, Palm was also a fairly hefty comeback of his
own by the popularity of the Centro, can the momentum of launching 800W?

Motorola ZN5 introduced

Palm Treo 800w Specification

The next Palm Treo smartphone is coming in July next month for CDMA network, the new Treo 800w will be available at Sprint and Verizon Wireless network. Here is a detail list of its specifications, which did not include a standard audio headset jack but a MicroUSB connector instead.

Samsung Instinct release date and price revealed

If the idea of a sub-$200 3G touchscreen fashion phone sounds vaguely familiar, trust us, it's not just your noggin playing tricks on you. Sprint is apparently circulating documentation internally revealing that the Samsung Instinct will run $199.99 on contract after rebates, a move that doesn't really come as surprise; Sprint itself has worked overtime trying to play up the Instinct versus iPhone angle, after all, and it's entirely plausible that the carrier was holding out for Apple's announcement before settling on a price.

Sprint will also be requiring that users sign up for an "Everything" plan when taking delivery of their Instinct, a move that smacks of AT&T's marriage of the iPhone to specific plans. The Instinct gets the jump on Apple's hardware by a few days thanks to a June 20 launch, so it'll be interesting to see just how much Cupertino thunder Samsung can steal here.

The Sony Ericsson C905 Cyber-shot is another one of SE’s still unannounced and unofficial yet
already spotted, tried, and tested handsets that we only learned about
yesterday. This new camera phone will feature a 2.4-inch QVGA screen
(boring), HSDPA network support (not boring), built-in GPS (great), and an 8.1 megapixel camera (awesome!).

Knowing that the C905 belongs to Sony Ericsson’s Cyber-shot
line, you can expect it to have the bevy of features already available
in other Cyber-shot phones. And these are the built-in music player,
photo editing tools, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, expandable memory and
BestPic technology. Unless SE suddenly decides to dump all of that and
try something new with this phone, that is.

Speculation leads us to believe the Sony Ericsson C905 could cost
somewhere around €500 (or $770 USD), give or take a few hundred by
way of a contract with some international carrier, or something.
We’ll give you more details about this phone as we get it.

Philips Xenium 9@9v, No charging in 1 month

It seems that Philips added another handset to its Xenium series, which has been renowned for its long lasting batteries. Information and pictures have already leaked on the internet regarding the newly unannounced Philips Xenium 9@9v. Even if information about its specs is very scarce, the images look exactly like press pictures, which suggests that the source of leaking is the manufacturer itself.

I wonder how many letters Philips can still use for its Xenium series, as we already have a huge lineup of handsets announced, that have been codenamed 9@9j, 9@9k, 9@9w, 9@9z, 9@9h, 9@9r, 9@9m and the list can go on.

The only certain features that we know will be embedded onto the new Philips Xenium 9@9v are touchscreen display and handwriting recognition. Furthermore, the handset it is said to include Dual SIM technology, but it is not sure yet if both will be active at the same time.

The usual standby that nears 1 month (720 hours) may seem unbelievable, especially as we are talking about a Dual SIM handset that usually consumes more energy than a single SIM mobile phone. The talking time of the phone is not less amazing – 8 hours. If you think you can resist the urge to recharge your
phone's battery twice a week, then this is the right choice for you, but be careful as you might forget where you have placed your charger after 1 month.

The phone is believed to hit the Asian market next month with no word of its availability in Europe or the States.

Anyway, we still have some 'pieces' from Philips that have been announced in the past and are yet to be launched on the market. These feature almost same technical specifications as the leaked Philips Xenium 9@9v, but will probably be available in other regions.

There's no word about Xenium 9@9v's price, but we know that it will available in 3 different color versions: Black Perfection, White Perfection and Red Perfection.

Google Android vs iPhone

Rich Miner is the Group Manager for Mobile Platforms at Google and he thinks that Android will outsell the iPhone.

I don’t think Android has near the hype around it that the iPhone does, lets say Apple drops a brand new, completely redone 3G iPhone with 32GB of storage, actual GPS, and a few other new features to make it, with respect to hardware, as close to the same as the optimal Android phone, save for the developers and Linux fanboys, which one do you think people are going to buy? Even if you do it fairly and exclude Apple developers and Apple fanboys Apple would probably still sell more.

Anyways, Google is bragging about their 750k SDK downloads since last November while Apple is bragging about 100k SDK downloads on the first day (and it was only half of a day at that). Lastly, Google is talking about all the capabilities of the Android SDK that the iPhone has, and that’s probably true, but in the end its Motorola, LG, Samsung, and HTC’s amazing devices that are really going to push the sales of Android phones, not so much the software itself, except for with the first official Android phone out.

If Apple releases a 3G iPhone and HTC (likely to be the first) releases a decent Android phone at the same time, I’d probably buy the iPhone first, but I’d get around to buying the HTC too.

LG Glimmer AX830 launched by Alltel Wreless

Alltel Wireless has announced the LG Glimmer phone last week. The Glimmer is available from March 13. With a slide-out keypad and touch-screen interface, the LG Glimmer incorporates traditional phone functions with the latest multimedia features.

The LG Glimmer is loaded with a 2 MP camera with video capabilities, an MP3 player with customizable equalizer, an expandable memory slot and is GPS capable. This slick phone is rich with several of Alltel's Axcess applications including Alltel Navigation, Axcess Search, CityID and Axcess TV. In addition, users can listen to their favorite music while utilizing other multimedia features on the phone.

The Glimmer also features 3D graphics support and 128MB of internal memory.

Alltel Wireless is offering the Glimmer by LG for $249.99 after a $100 mail-in-rebate. This discounted price is available to new customers who sign-up for a two-year service agreement and to existing eligible customers on qualifying rate plans.

The LG Glimmer also supports Alltel’s new service, Axcess Voice2TXT. Hot on the heels of their X800 launch comes the keyboard totin' M800 sharing most of the same goodies included that 2.8-inch, 480 x 640 (VGA!) touchscreen. If you love WinMo 6 Professional powered by a 500MHz Samsung S3C2442 CPU and riding atop quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, tri-band UMTS/HSDPA data, SiRF Star III GPS, WiFi b/g, Blutooth 2.0+EDR, and a 2 megapixel camera then this is about as good as it gets.

Nokia has 3G version of Nokia 8800

Nokia unveiled two 3G 8800-series mobile phones on Tuesday, called 8800 Arte and 8800 Sapphire Arte.

The 8800 Arte is set to start shipping in the current quarter at a retail price of 1,000 euros ($1,462) before taxes and subsidies.

The 8800 Sapphire Arte will begin shipping in the first quarter of 2008 at 1,150 euros before taxes and subsidies, Nokia said in a statement.

Cowon A3 is Available

Affirmed just one week in advance, the release date of the A3 for the Korean market is now scheduled for November 14. Due to the extensive list of functions that the 30GB and 60GB PMP provides it is no wonder Cowon is referring to the A3 as an extreme PMP.

Improving on the A2, the resolution of the 4-inch 16 million color LCD has increased by two thirds to 800 x 480. Additional codecs supported are primarily Matroska, h.264, VOB, Apple Lossless, AAC, APE, GIF and TIF, while videos up to 1280 x 720 pixles can now be played. The weight of the 30GB version is lighter than the A2 by 0.63oz and the user EQ has increased to 10-bands.

It’s been a long wait since Cowon first announced the A3 so hopefully it won't too much longer for the rest of the world. For now the Korean prices are 349,000 Won ($385) for the 30GB and 419,000 ($462) for the 60GB.

Asus R700 GPS Navigator

ASUS is in the finishing stages of prepping a new range-leading GPS unit, says a new leak from GPSAndCo. The R700 will separate itself from other high-end mapping systems by relying on microSD cards for add-on storage instead of full-size SD. The change will let ASUS offer a full feature set while keeping the device just over half an inch thick with a 4.3-inch screen.

New mapping software should be part of the package, according to the claim. The R700 should additionally become one of the few GPS devices with a Traffic Message Channel (TMC) receiver built-in, requiring only a subscription to receive real-time traffic warnings. MPEG-4 videos will also be playable from memory, as will AAC, MP3, and WMA music.

Bluetooth 2.0 will provide hands-free calling for the R700, which will reportedly ship in December for Europeans at a price between €400 and €500 ($588 and $735) with maps already preloaded for the continent. ASUS sometimes brings its GPS units to North America but is not yet known to be exporting the R700 to the region, where it could keep the same features but might receive a lower price.

Motorola Q9h Officially announced by AT&T

The Motorola Q9h Global will be available from AT&T beginning November 2. The Q9h is a quad-band GSM/EDGE and dual-band HSDPA 3.6MB Windows Mobile 6 smartphone with full QWERTY keyboard and built-in GPS. It also has a 2 Megapixel camera with flash and seven shortcut keys to often-used applications.

It will be preloaded with productivity software, such as Documents To Go, and users will be able to download what AT&T is calling Q Paks. Q Paks are bundles of five software applications that are aimed at specific user segments. The Q9h will cost $200 for a limited time with two-year agreement.

XDA Orbit re-surface

O2 has announced the XDA Orbit 2 PDA phone, a year after it launched the original handset.

The O2 XDA Orbit 2 runs Windows Mobile 6 Professional, instead of version 5, while the phone’s 200MHz Texas Instruments OMAP 850 processor has been replaced with a 400MHz Qualcomm MSM7200. The original's 64MB RAM has been upped to 128MB, and the device can now accept Micro SD cards of up to 1GB in size.

The handset can mak HSDPA 3G connections at up to 3.6Mbps, but it still offers the original quad-band GSM/GPRS/Edge connectivity should owners find themselves out of reach of a 3G basestation. Wi-Fi is on board too, and the Orbit 2 has both Bluetooth and USB connectivity options for short-range data transfers.

The handset’s camera has been upped by three megapixels. However, the device’s aesthetics are largely unchanged. It still sports a 240 x 320 pixel display and looks, well, almost identical.

O2 said the Orbit 2 will be available in Germany from December for around €99 (£65/$130), depending on contract. The company hasn’t said if the new model will make it to the UK yet.
